Grand Seiko celebrates the 2nd anniversary of its establishment in the Asia Pacific region with the launch of a limited-edition model, SBGJ285. This exclusive release is a modern interpretation of the iconic 44GS design and features a mesmerising dial inspired by the symbolic beauty of the wisteria flower, “Fuji” in Japanese.
Reflecting Grand Seiko’s reverence for the beauty of nature, this timepiece draws its inspiration from the wisteria flower, admired in Japan for its delicate, cascading beauty and deep cultural significance. The downward-facing blossoms are often likened to a person bowing, symbolising a warm welcome and a humble spirit.
The new purple dial colour, known as Fuji-iro, is a traditional Japanese hue that has been cherished since ancient times as a symbol of nobility and elegance. Its delicate pattern mimics the sight of wisteria blossoms swaying gracefully in the breeze, capturing the fleeting nature of time and offering a quiet reminder of life’s impermanent beauty.
Renowned for its precision of +5 to -3 seconds per day, the Hi-Beat 36000 GMT Calibre 9S86 that powers this watch has been adapted to include a GMT function. This allows the wearer to track time in two time zones simultaneously, making it ideal for modern travellers and watch enthusiasts. The independently adjustable hour hand enables easy setting without interrupting the timekeeping function, enhancing practicality and convenience.
